Review of 2021!
There is no doubt that the last twelve months have been challenging. However, it is always good to reflect back on the good and the bad. In this next short blog, our founder Sohini reminisces on the past year and how Empeal has risen to new levels with the help of our talented team

“As we say goodbye to 2021, I was reflecting back at what a mixed year it was for all of us. On the team’s personal front, a lot of our team members lost near and dear ones to COVID, like so many others in the world! It was definitely a tough year to endure. However, our team showed amazing resilience and courage to overcome a lot of odds and supported each other through this crisis! As for Empeal, the global focus on health and digitisation, helped us reach new heights thankfully. With us being named as the winner of Alsessor AI and other awards and recognitions, this year was a memorable one. However, the team got the biggest morale boost from our new client acquisitions, cementing critical partnerships, and closing a part of our current funding round. Our revenues increased significantly over 2021, giving us the ability to look forward to 2022, which will see not only further client and revenue growth but also some very exciting projects in different geographies, so stay tuned!
All this is good for the future visibility of Empeal, but before I end, I think this year, our biggest win was how the Empeal team showed empathy, resilience, and the indomitable spirit of survival. 2022, we are ready to face you and climb new heights.
Please find some of the key highlights of the year 2021 below”.
Network Ireland Collaboration
In partnership with Network Ireland Empeal launched the Network Ireland Fittest Business, which saw teams from each branch across the island competing in a series of health and fitness challenges, with the winner being crowned the fittest business!
For this collaboration, we partnered with a multitude of different health coaches in order to help our contestants with their nutrition, brain health, productivity, fitness, and fashion.
Fingal Chamber Event
Sohini was one of three panelists of inspiring business leaders which appeared in the Local Enterprise Office Fingal Webinar. We had a fantastic discussion with the panel of business leaders who described their start-up journeys and the trials and challenges that come with this.
Dublin City FM
Sohini also sat down with Sam Assad from Dublin City FM to discuss Empeal’s journey as a start-up company. Sohini’s thought process of deciding to start a new company was explained along with her passion to help others who suffer from chronic diseases through nutrition and lifestyle changes.
Alsessor Accelerator Winner
In June Empeal was declared winner of the inaugural Alsessor accelerator and won €250,000 in investment. It was an intense six months as it was very competitive with an amazing cohort of start-ups. This investment allowed us to push forward with our plan to give everyone access to AI-enabled health and wellbeing with a 24/7 accessible health coach in everyone’s pockets.
Cpl Partnership
It was such a proud moment for Empeal to announce our partnership with Future of Work Institute CPL last July. We are delighted to work with them as their technology partner to assist with their unique new wellness offering. To launch this announcement CPL held a live discussion on LinkedIn between Elysia Hegarty who is the workplace wellness lead along with Barry Winkles who is the CSO CPL and head of the future of work institute CPL.
Government Launch of AI strategy
In July Empeal was also one of four AI solutions that were showcased at the Government Launch of AI strategy. This was fantastic news for us as we were asked to meet with the Minister of State at the Department of Enterprise, Trade, and Employment Robert Troy.
The Irish Times
We were honored to see that we had been featured in the Irish Times as part of the latest Scale Ireland. Sohini was asked to attend along with a keynote address from the Minister for Finance, Paschal Donohoe. The discussion surrounded the topic of indigenous tech start-ups and the importance they hold to our Economic Future.
Tech Ireland report
Empeal is an early stage, award-winning digital health company and we are honored to be featured in the Tech Ireland Report, which has provided insights from some of the leading experts in the sector.
Blue tulip awards
We are delighted to say that in 2021 we were chosen as one of the top 50 innovations within the health and wellbeing sector for the Blue Tulip Awards. This was a great honor for us to be recognised as a digital health solution with a difference.
Irish Guide Dogs
2021 was a time for Empeal to give back as we continued to work with our charity partner, the Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind. In December we helped raise funds in a charity event for this amazing cause where €2,000 was raised for this wonderful charity. We encourage other organisations and individuals to give support when possible in this new year.
